Effexor XR ContraindicationsDo not take this Effexor XR medicine if you are allergic to any ingredient in this Effexor XR medicine you are taking a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) How To Use Effexor XRHow much Effexor XR medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of the Effexor XR medicine you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Swallow capsules whole. Do not chew, crush, divide, or place the capsule in water before taking. This medication may lessen your ability to judge, think, or handle complex motor skills. Use caution when driving or performing other tasks requiring alertness, coordination, or physical dexterity. Dizziness or light-headedness can occur when rising from a seated or lying position. If this occurs, sit or lie down and avoid sudden changes in posture. Notify your doctor if a rash, hives or any sign of allergy develops. Avoid alcohol while taking this Effexor XR medicine. Have your blood pressure checked regularly. Do not stop taking this Effexor XR medicine suddenly. The stopping of using this Effexor XR medicine should be done gradually. At least 14 days should pass between stopping the use of a monoamine oxidase inhibitor and the starting of this Effexor XR medicine. In addition, at least 7 days should pass after stopping this Effexor XR medicine before starting a monoamine oxidase inhibitor. Do not take more Effexor XR medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your doctor or health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking this Effexor XR medicine. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medicines without talking with your doctor. Side Effects Every Effexor XR medicine can cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if any of the following occurs: Seizure. Nausea; drowsiness; dizziness. Chest pain; fast heartbeat; itching; decreased sex drive; agitation; confusion; abnormal thinking; personality changes; depression; impaired urination; twitching; menstrual disorder; impotence; headache; dry mouth; sleeplessness; constipation; nervousness; weakness; sweating; abnormal ejaculation/orgasm; appetite/weight loss; diarrhoea; anxiety; blurred vision; vomiting; shakiness; abnormal dreams; chills; sore throat; indigestion; gas; muscle stiffness; abnormal skin sensations; mood changes; flushing; rash; yawn; taste change; ringing in the ears. Effexor XR PrecautionsBefore using this Effexor XR medicine, tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, plan on becoming pregnant, or breastfeeding; if you are taking or planning to take any prescription or nonprescription Effexor XR medicine; if you have any other medical condition Effexor XR OverdoseCall doctor or pharmacist immediately. Effexor XR NotesIf you have any questions about your Effexor XR medicine, please talk with your doctor, pharmacist, or health care provider. Effexor XR Missed DoseIf a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your doctor.
